Fire Emblem Fans Should Keep an Eye on This One, And It Just Made a Big Announcement

In the world of turn-based tactical RPGs, Fire Emblem continues to reign supreme. And it could shine even brighter this year with its new entry, Fortune’s Weave, expected exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2. While Nintendo takes its time revealing a release date, whether with fanfare at a Nintendo Direct or quietly slipped out between app notifications, fans of the genre already have another title worth watching closely. And this one now has a concrete date.

Brigandine Abyss, a Fire Emblem-like, locks in its release date on consoles and PC

It was one of the pleasant surprises of the last State of Play. Less of a household name than Nintendo’s flagship franchise, the Brigandine series nonetheless commands a devoted following that had been eagerly awaiting any news about this new entry, and most importantly, a release date. The wait is over. Brigandine Abyss will launch on August 26th, 2026 across Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. A physical edition has already been confirmed for North America.

On paper, Brigandine Abyss shapes up as the perfect way to bridge the wait for Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave. The development team alone is enough to turn heads: Makoto Yamamoto (Sengoku Basara) on direction, Masayuki Horikawa (Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance) overseeing the project, and Iduru Matsuno (Sengoku) on the script, an all-star lineup by any measure. The game will be structured around six distinct campaigns, each with its own cast of characters and narrative perspective. Alongside that, a Mission mode offers a more traditional approach with 24 playable factions, delivering a wealth of strategic variety on the battlefield. August 26th can’t come soon enough.
