The Summer Game Fest 2026 ran as hot as the summer ahead promises to be. Geoff Keighley’s showcase delivered another string of major announcements, returning franchises nobody dared hope for, release dates locked in for September, and genuine surprises that somehow escaped the usual pre-show leak machine. Tradition dictates, however, that Nintendo extends the festivities with its unmissable June Nintendo Direct. The showcase had long been expected to serve as a broad look at the Nintendo Switch 2’s upcoming exclusives, with the week of June 9th, 2026 repeatedly cited as the likely window. After weeks of speculation worthy of a relative absolutely convinced they have the scoop of the century at a family dinner, Nintendo has put the rumors to rest and officially confirmed its next major showcase of the year.

The June 2026 Nintendo Direct is confirmed

After weeks of whispers, the official word is here. Nintendo has confirmed its next Nintendo Direct for June 9th, 2026 at 4 PM French time. As always, the showcase will be available to watch live on Nintendo’s YouTube channels. Running for 50 minutes, the presentation is expected to shine a spotlight on new exclusives, ports, and highly anticipated title updates, with the Nintendo Switch 2’s growing library very much at the center of attention.

What games can we expect?

The showcase should have its share of surprises, though some announcements already feel like near-certainties. Release dates for previously announced Nintendo Switch 2 exclusives are widely expected, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave and The Duskbloods, FromSoftware’s new title that has Bloodborne fans barely containing their excitement, are both strong candidates. Rumors are also swirling around a potential announcement of a Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, widely regarded as the finest entry in the entire franchise. The next 3D Mario, meanwhile, remains murkier, current indications point to a 2027 release at the earliest.

The Direct should also be the occasion to officially confirm several ports that have been the subject of leaks and rumors, including Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Metaphor: ReFantazio. The indie scene is expected to feature prominently as well, with any luck bringing release dates for the likes of Witchbrook, the enchanting Stardew Valley-like, and Orbitals, the cooperative game soaked in ’80s anime nostalgia.
