Ubisoft has a well-documented struggle with keeping secrets. When the PlayStation Store, the Xbox storefront, ratings boards, or even the publisher’s own website aren’t giving things away, leakers and insiders are happy to step in. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced surprised absolutely nobody when Ubisoft finally confirmed its existence with little fanfare, just a single image and a name. The open secret was no longer a secret at all, and all eyes had been locked on today, April 16th, 2026. As it turns out, players can go back to sleep for a little while longer.
The Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake reveal is going to have to wait
A number of well-regarded insiders had converged on the same prediction: the remake of one of Assassin’s Creed’s most beloved entries was set to make a significant appearance on April 16th, 2026, following an advance media showing. That date had also aligned with rumors of a State of Play scheduled for today. Neither, it seems, is happening. Tom Henderson has walked back his earlier claim, clarifying that Thursday’s Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake presentation will be limited to press and influencers. “This is the media event. Not sure if they still plan to reveal tomorrow or not yet,” he tweeted on the evening of April 15th.
A minor disappointment, then, for fans who had been hoping for a first proper look at the Black Flag remake today. That said, it shouldn’t be a long wait. If media have genuinely been given a dedicated presentation, an official public reveal in the coming days feels all but inevitable. Patience will have to stretch just a little further.
On the rumor front, it’s worth recapping what’s been reported: the remake is expected to incorporate several of AC Shadows’ technical improvements, including its dynamic weather system, alongside the RPG elements that have become a fixture of the modern entries. Indonesia’s ratings board also inadvertently let slip that new characters and original story content are in the pipeline. The reveal is coming, just not today.
