Ghost of Yotei Gets a Massive Free DLC and a New Update — Here’s What’s New

Released on October 2, 2025, Ghost of Yotei is undoubtedly one of the biggest success stories of late last year. Despite the numerous, and frankly absurd, controversies that erupted around the game, Sucker Punch’s latest title has, by last count, sold over 3.3 million copies, making for a stronger launch than its predecessor. As a thank-you to fans, the studio has decided to bring back Legends mode, which was rolled out for free yesterday to all PS5 players.

Ghost of Yotei’s Legends Mode Is Now Live

Much like Ghost of Tsushima before it, Ghost of Yotei invites the community to dive into an expansion that feels worlds apart from the main campaign following Atsu’s journey. Leaning further into mysticism than ever, Legends is above all a multiplayer experience, bringing two to four players together to face off against supernatural versions of the Six of Yotei, across several brand-new game modes, including Survival, Story, and Raid.

To do so, players can choose from four distinct character classes, each with their own strengths. From the Samurai and his wide arsenal of weapons, to the Archer equipped with an additional ranged weapon, the Mercenary wielding dual katanas, and the Shinobi with his stealth-focused abilities, Legends reimagines Ghost of Yotei’s gameplay from the ground up, building on its already solid foundations. For those chasing a real challenge, multiple difficulty levels are available, each offering better rewards.

More Content Already on the Way

And the best part? Legends is just getting started. Sucker Punch has already confirmed that an additional mode, Raid, will arrive in April, giving players even more reasons to keep coming back to Ghost of Yotei. The studio isn’t shy about its ambitions for Legends either: development ran in parallel with the main campaign and ended up taking just as long as the story players have already experienced. Ghost of Yotei is available right now on PS5, and completely free.
