After months of leaks and speculation, PlayStation has finally made it official. Long rumored to be taking place this month, the annual State of Play will air on February 12, 2026, at 2 p.m. PT, 5 p.m ET and 11 p.m CET. The presentation will focus on the upcoming titles set to shape the year ahead for PS5 players. Clocking in at over 60 minutes, this will be the longest State of Play Sony has ever produced.
The show will primarily spotlight third-party games and upcoming indie releases, but PlayStation has already confirmed that PlayStation Studios will also have a dedicated presence. The event should therefore offer a clearer look at projects some of Sony’s internal teams have been quietly working on for quite some time.
What can we expect from this new State of Play?
Marvel’s Wolverine is widely expected to finally reveal its release date, while Saros should logically take center stage ahead of its launch on April 30, 2026. And while optimism may be dangerous, one can always hope for a first gameplay reveal of Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet, Naughty Dog’s next project. Sony may also use the State of Play to highlight two of its upcoming live-service titles. On one side is Horizon Hunters Gathering, Guerrilla Games’ newly announced cooperative experience, which is set to enter its first closed beta later this month. On the other is Fairgame$, the heist-focused title led by Jade Raymond, which has remained conspicuously absent since its announcement in 2023.
The presentation could also serve as a showcase for projects from PlayStation Studios’ more discreet teams. Santa Monica Studio is rumored to be working on a Metroidvania-inspired God of War, while Bluepoint Games is said to be developing its first original IP. Bend Studio’s future game is more mysterious following the cancellation of its live-service project. Beyond consoles, PlayStation could also announce new PC ports, with Death Stranding 2 and Gran Turismo 7 often cited. Rumors even point to a new version of the PS Portal featuring an OLED screen, perhaps an announcement for the State of Play.
From FF7 Remake Part 3 to Persona 6: Which Partner Games Could Steal the Show?
This is likely only the tip of the iceberg. Sony’s regular partners should also feature prominently. Capcom is almost guaranteed to appear, whether to give Resident Evil 9 one last showing ahead of its release later this month, or to remind players that Monster Hunter Stories 3 launches in March. Square Enix, exclusivity agreements aside, could also play a major role, fueling hopes of FF9 Remake, Kingdom Hearts 4, FF7 Remake 3 or even the arrival of the FF13 trilogy on PS5. Bandai Namco is another frequent attendee. Could this be the stage for a new Tales of, or even Persona 6 on SEGA’s side? That’s less certain.
Other plausible appearances include 007 First Light, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, or the PS5 version of inZoi. One title is already confirmed: Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis.As always, the indie scene should also be well represented. And who knows, perhaps Little Devil Inside will finally receive a firm release date after all these years. Between this game and a new trailer for GTA 6, bets are open.
