The PS Plus Extra catalog for December 2025 is beginning to take shape. While Sony typically announces the games leaving the service in advance, giving subscribers time to finish or explore them, new additions are usually revealed around the middle of the month. However, the first two PS Plus Extra games for December 2025 have already been confirmed.
A Stunning Indie Game Confirmed for PS Plus Extra in December 2025
Sony is typically reliable when it comes to communicating the PS Plus schedule, but there are occasional surprises. These tend to happen during a State of Play or major event where new details about the service are unveiled, or when a game is unexpectedly added to the catalog across any of the Essential, Extra, or Premium tiers. A recent example is the native PS5 version of Red Dead Redemption, which was announced less than 48 hours after the PS Plus Extra November 2025 catalog was revealed. Now, with just hours to go before next month’s PS Plus Essential games are announced, another surprise has been confirmed.
In addition to joining John Marston in the Wild West, PS Plus Extra subscribers will be among the first to experience a highly anticipated indie game as soon as it’s released. With acrobatics, trick-based boss fights, quirky humor, and breathtaking visuals, Skate Story is shaping up to be one of the standout indie games of the year. PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers can dive in on its release, December 8, 2025, on PS5, as confirmed by Devolver Digital on the PlayStation Blog.
Red Dead Redemption also confirmed
Developed by Sam Eng and published by Devolver Digital, Skate Story follows a demon made of glass and pain, who must navigate the nine circles of Hell on his magical skateboard. Set in a surreal world filled with bizarre creatures and giant heads that philosophize about the meaning of life, players will need to perform tricks and solve puzzles to advance on their journey.
Skate Story is the second confirmed title for PS Plus Extra and Premium in December 2025. Additionally, the native PS5 version of Red Dead Redemption will be available starting December 2, 2025, for subscribers of both plans.
