Recently, PS Plus Premium and Extra subscribers have gained access to the new monthly additions to the catalog. These include the return of GTA 5, as well as several standout indie titles like Pacific Drive, Thank Goodness You’re Here!, and The Talos Principle 2. However, Red Dead Redemption and its native PS5 version won’t be available until December 2. PS Plus Premium members, who pay over $25 more annually than those on the standard tier, will only receive Tomb Raider Anniversary as an exclusive bonus. And it seems Sony is quietly and permanently removing one of the few remaining perks from the Premium tier.
A perk is disappearing for PS Plus Premium members.
This week marked the fifth anniversary of the PS5’s release, and this generation has been marked by significant changes. One of the most notable is the overhaul of Sony’s subscription service, which now offers three distinct plans. PlayStation Plus Essential provides online play and three free games each month. The “Extra” tier expands on this by offering access to a broad catalogue of titles, while PS Plus Premium includes all of the above, plus classic games from previous generations. Over time, and following multiple price hikes, Sony has had to add more value to its highest tier. This led to the inclusion of PSVR 2 games, although these were mysteriously discontinued several months ago. Now, this perk seems to be set to disappear entirely.
Sony has unveiled the list of games set to leave PS Plus Extra and Premium in December 2025. Notably, two PSVR 2 titles, Arcade Paradise VR and Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge, will be removed. But these were the last remaining PSVR 2 titles available as part of the PS Plus Premium benefit. Starting next month, Sony will quietly phase out this small but exclusive perk reserved for the highest tier. Moving forward, Premium subscribers will essentially receive the same benefits as Extra subscribers, in addition to their exclusive access to free game trials and classic titles each month. It remains unclear whether this will be enough to justify the higher annual cost.

Changes Coming in 2026?
While the PSVR 2 player base is relatively small, some subscribers are struggling to accept the news. “A large part of the reason I got PSVR2 is because I saw they were adding a game a month, so it sucks they didn’t keep it up,” wrote one PS5 player on Reddit. Unfortunately, the benefits of PS Plus Premium continue to shrink. Free trials also appear to be increasingly neglected, with the pace of their rollout slowing considerably. However, it’s worth noting that earlier this year, Sony promised to gradually phase out the addition of PS4 titles to the service in order to provide a more contemporary offering and keep pace with the migration to PS5. It’s possible that Sony may revise its plans for PS Plus Premium in response to these changes. Only time will tell.
