Gran Turismo 7’s Generosity With Free Content Leaves Players Frustrated

While it’s always a nice gesture when a game rewards its community, Gran Turismo 7’s recent offering has caused some frustration. Over the years, players have enjoyed countless updates and free content drops, including new cars, tracks, and features, which have helped keep the game fresh and engaging. Additionally, a paid DLC is expected to arrive soon on PS5, by December 4, 2025, bringing even more content. However, what has left a bad taste for many players is the recent gift of free credits, with one major caveat.

Free Credits for New Buyers, Not Long-Time Fans

To celebrate the milestone of 100 million games sold, Gran Turismo 7 is giving away free credits to players. However, the offer is limited to new buyers of the game. Specifically, players who purchase certain versions will receive in-game credits as a bonus. For example, the 25th Anniversary Edition grants 2 million credits, while the standard version includes a bonus of 750,000 credits. While these bonuses may seem generous, there’s a catch. Current players, who have supported the game since its release, are excluded from this promotion.

This decision has left many long-time fans feeling unappreciated, as they won’t receive any reward for their years of support. While the credits are a nice head start for newcomers, those who have been loyal to the game since launch feel overlooked.

Long-time fans are disappointed

At the time of writing, Polyphony Digital has not announced any plans to offer any bonuses to current Gran Turismo 7 players. Although the credits may not be essential for veteran players, they would have served as a small but meaningful acknowledgment of their time and dedication. Many fans feel that reaching the 100 million sales milestone was, in part, thanks to their continued support. After all, it was the early adopters who helped the franchise grow into the global success it is today.

Though current Gran Turismo 7 players might not need the credits, the frustration arises from the sense that the milestone celebration excludes those who have been part of the community from the start. This could be seen as a missed opportunity for Polyphony Digital to show appreciation for its most dedicated fans. Only time will tell whether Polyphony Digital will address this issue or offer some form of compensation to long-time players. For now, it remains unclear if future updates will include any rewards for the loyal fanbase. Gran Turismo 7’s community has been integral to the game’s success, and many fans will likely be hoping for recognition in the near future.
