Well-connected insider Nate the Hate has outlined Nintendo’s roadmap for the months ahead, and a new mainline Mario platformer isn’t expected before 2027. That said, Big N is still making the most of the franchise’s 40th anniversary, the Super Mario Galaxy film is currently tearing up the box office, and a new Yoshi game, starring one of the film’s breakout characters, is penciled in for May. In the meantime, Nintendo continues to refine its Nintendo Switch 2 flagship title, Mario Kart World, with another patch arriving just days after the last one.

Mario Kart World updates to version 1.6.1

On March 31st, the Nintendo Switch 2’s headline title received a fairly meaty update, one that added the new Bob-omb Blast mode to Battle Mode, alongside a series of gameplay tweaks and general improvements. Just days later, Nintendo is back with a smaller but welcome follow-up patch for Mario Kart World. This time around, the focus is narrower. Version 1.6.1 addresses two specific bugs that had been causing frustration. One was triggering game crashes during online sessions, the other was preventing certain key items from activating correctly during races. Nothing as headline-grabbing as the previous patch, but a tidy fix for two genuinely disruptive issues. Here’s exactly what version 1.6.1 of Mario Kart World changes:

Fixed an issue where you would sometimes not get a speed boost upon landing after starting a rail ride following a Jump Boost or similar action.

Fixed an issue where the game would sometimes end when switching between TV mode and handheld mode / tabletop mode after starting a game with three or more players in Multiplayer.

It’s also worth noting that the previous update brought some meaningful gameplay rebalancing alongside the Bob-omb Blast addition. The boomerang received a nerf, item box drop rates during races were adjusted, and Bullet Bill performance was improved. Whether Nintendo plans to continue supporting Mario Kart World with further updates down the line, or whether a DLC is in the works, remains to be seen.

Source: Nintendo

[1
13,138,44
post-72896","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-game-update","tag-mario-kart","tag-nintendo-switch-2","generate-columns","tablet-grid-50","mobile-grid-100","grid-parent","grid-33
["GET
