Xbox kicked things off with its annual Developer Direct, showcasing its next two major in-house titles: Forza Horizon 6 and Fable. Nintendo, meanwhile, is rolling out a series of short Nintendo Directs, each focusing on a single game or the next Super Mario Bros. movie, ahead of its big annual presentation in February and the Pokémon Presents scheduled for the same month. Only Sony is keeping a lower profile for now, though that could change soon with the first State of Play of the year.

When will the next State of Play take place?

The rumor started circulating just yesterday. Insider Nate The Hate, generally considered well-informed, claimed on social media that Sony would hold another State of Play in February, without sharing further details. Not long after, journalist Jeff Grubb offered more specifics on the broadcast window. According to his sources, the first State of Play of the year is expected during the week of February 12, 2026, most likely on the same day. This timing fits Sony’s usual pattern of scheduling major conferences on Thursdays, aligning with Grubb’s information. Despite the credibility of these sources, caution is still advised until Sony makes an official announcement.

The publisher is likely to use the event to shed more light on the titles that will define the year for PS5 players. Saros is expected to feature prominently, as is Marvel’s Wolverine, which may finally reveal its release date. We might also hear updates on the Metroidvania-style God of War rumored for 2026, or the game-service Fairgame$, which has been absent since its announcement in 2023.

What can we expect from this State of Play?

Sony’s regular partners are also expected to participate. Capcom could use the event to put Resident Evil 9 in the spotlight one last time and remind players that Monster Hunter Stories 3 is scheduled for March. Bandai Namco typically takes the opportunity to make announcements as well. While a new Tales of game remains possible, it seems more likely we’ll see DLC for Digimon or another franchise. Square Enix has a history of surprising audiences during State of Play, leaving fans free to dream about FF9 Remake, FF7 Remake 3, or Kingdom Hearts 4. And if we’re really ambitious, why not a PS5 version of the FF13 trilogy ?

The indie scene is also expected to play a prominent role, with plenty of candidates to choose from. Other potential highlights could include 007 First Light, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, and a PS5 version of inZoi. We should get the full picture next month.

What are you hoping to see in PlayStation’s next State of Play ?

Source: Jeff Grubb

[1
59,90,61
post-72199","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-ps5","tag-rumor","tag-state-of-play","generate-columns","tablet-grid-50","mobile-grid-100","grid-parent","grid-33
["GET
