Uncharted 5? Naughty Dog May Be Teasing the Sequel Everyone Has Been Waiting 10 Years For

Table of content Table of content

The PS5 generation will likely be remembered, but not for the right reasons. A parade of remakes and remasters, successive price hikes, a failed pivot toward live service gaming, and a glaring shortage of compelling exclusives. The community had high expectations for this new generation, and PlayStation has struggled to meet them. A handful of beloved franchises have made returns across the last two consoles, but when it comes to genuine PS5-exclusive PlayStation Studios titles, the plate is painfully bare.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Returnal, Astro Bot, and the upcoming Saros… The true PS5 exclusives can be counted on one hand, while PlayStation has been busy shutting down studios and canceling projects. Some of the names once synonymous with the PlayStation brand have gone conspicuously quiet, none more so than Uncharted.

Following a handful of remasters and remakes, and the cancellation of The Last of Us Factions, Naughty Dog is now at work on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, its next new IP. A second game is officially in development alongside it, and while The Last of Us 3 is on everyone’s lips, hope is quietly rekindling for Uncharted 5.

Has Naughty Dog teased Uncharted 5?

PlayStation hinted a few years ago that the future of Uncharted was being explored. A spin-off under Bend Studio was considered at one point before being quietly shelved. A Tom Holland film came and went, and the franchise’s future has remained uncertain ever since. And yet, Naughty Dog may be preparing something significant for Uncharted fans. Neil Druckmann has confirmed on multiple occasions that a second solo project is in development alongside Intergalactic, no secret there. But reliable leaker DanielRPK, who previously revealed details about the sci-fi project and the TLOU series, has been more specific.

According to him, there are actually three solo projects currently in development at the studio, one of them led by Shaun Escayg, the director of The Lost Legacy, under Neil Druckmann’s supervision. And that project may well be Uncharted 5. Sharp-eyed fans recently spotted an Instagram post that slipped under the radar. On February 17th, 2026, the Lost Legacy director shared a photo from Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean, featuring a cannon, with a single caption: “Research.”

Chloe, Cassie, Sully? Fans are already writing their wish lists

Let’s be honest, nothing screams Uncharted quite like an exotic Caribbean research trip tied to a game under his direction. Predictably, that subtle tease has sent fan communities into overdrive. A new chapter following Cassie, Nathan Drake’s daughter? A return for Chloe? A prequel centered on Sully? Everyone has their preferred scenario for what Uncharted 5 could look like, though it bears repeating that, for now, all of this remains pure speculation. That said, it’s hard to picture Intergalactic or The Last of Us making a detour through the Caribbean.
