Less than a year into its life, the Nintendo Switch 2 is building a formidable library, driven in large part by strong third-party support. Unlike its predecessor, Nintendo’s latest hybrid console is placing a heavy bet on games developed outside of its own walls, and it’s already paying off, with a steady stream of major titles that would have been unthinkable on the original Switch. That momentum isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
A phenomenal game is officially coming to Nintendo Switch 2
With a machine now genuinely capable of keeping pace with modern game performance, third-party publishers are no longer leaving the Nintendo Switch 2 market on the table. Since its launch last June, the console has accumulated title after title that its predecessor could never have handled, most recently, in February, with the arrival of the last three Resident Evil games, including Requiem. Now another major scalp has been confirmed on Nintendo Switch 2. At the recent Game Developers Conference, IGN catched up with the Marvel Rivals team. Some time ago, they had already sat down with producer Weicong Wu to ask the obvious question: could the phenomenally successful hero shooter ever make its way to Nintendo Switch 2?
At the time, Wu revealed that the team had already reached out to Nintendo to obtain development kits, and then, silence. Until March 2026. This time around, journalist Rebekah Valentine approached executive producer Danny Koo during GDC and pressed him on the potential port. His answer was refreshingly direct: “We Will Do It,” he said, adding that “We’re working on it, but when we have news, we’ll announce that one.” That’s a confirmation. Marvel Rivals, the outstanding free-to-play phenomenon that has amassed over 40 million players since its late 2024 launch, is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. All that’s left now is to give the NetEase team the time they need to optimize it properly.
