Although hopes for a FFX remake have largely faded along with the rumors that sparked them, the game itself continues to make players dream. Developers behind Clair Obscur Expedition 33 have encouraged RPG fans who haven’t yet explored Spira to give it a try, while genre veterans still recommend it to anyone charmed by classic turn-based adventures. Nearly 25 years after its original PS2 release, the game remains a standout, and that enduring appeal hasn’t gone unnoticed by Square Enix. Having thoroughly mined FF7 for collectibles, the publisher now seems ready to tempt the wallets of devoted Final Fantasy X fans.
Finally, new FFX figures
Or perhaps the credit belongs to Good Smile Company. Best known for its Nendoroid line, the Japanese manufacturer also produces more traditional scale figures at reasonable prices with impressive craftsmanship. From Hades to The Legend of Zelda and Baldur’s Gate 3, Good Smile has proven it has a keen eye for gaming’s most beloved franchises, no matter their age. Without prior warning, the company announced upcoming static figures of Yuna and Tidus. Naturally, longtime fans are already wondering: which version of Tidus will it be?
For now, that remains a mystery. Only Yuna’s figure has been fully revealed, leaving Tidus’ full design up in the air. Will it follow the more washed design promoted by Square Enix these last few years, or stick to his original PS2 appearance? No release date or pricing has been confirmed yet, but more details on these first FFX figures from Good Smile Company are expected in the coming months.
