Undoubtedly one of the most highly anticipated games of February, and of the year as a whole, Resident Evil Requiem is now in the final stretch before its release on February 27 for PS5, Xbox Series consoles, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. However, anyone planning to dive in on day one might want to steer clear of social media, judging by what is already circulating online.
Resident Evil Requiem has reportedly leaked
Pre-release leaks have unfortunately become commonplace, particularly for high-profile titles. Physical copies often reach retailers well ahead of launch, and on occasion, some manage to obtain them days or even weeks early. That appears to be the case with Resident Evil 9 Requiem. Images have recently surfaced online showing what appears to be a boxed copy of the game, complete with a lenticular cover. The artwork reportedly shifts between two images of the Raccoon City police station, depicting it before and after the infamous outbreak. While the authenticity of the leak has yet to be officially confirmed, the images have been widely shared and are fueling concerns about potential story spoilers spreading ahead of release.
Interestingly, this situation echoes recent rumors surrounding GTA 6, which claimed the game would forego a physical release to prevent leaks, claims that were later denied. In this case, Resident Evil 9 Requiem is very much slated for a physical launch, with the same special cover expected to be available at major retailers across the globe.
Until Capcom provides further clarification, caution is advised. Even if major spoilers have not surfaced yet, the risk is likely to increase in the coming weeks. Capcom has already stated that the game still holds many surprises, and it would be unfortunate to have them spoiled so close to release. If you’ve waited this long, it may be wise to mute keywords revolving around Resident Evil Requiem, avoid comment sections, and approach social platforms carefully until launch day arrives.
