Although the response did not come in the form of a traditional statement, it marks one of the rare times Ubisoft has publicly acknowledged Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake, which has resurfaced through a steady stream of leaks in recent months. According to various rumors, the remake may have been internally delayed by at least a year, reportedly following the sudden cancellation of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. At the same time, other sources have suggested that an announcement could be imminent, fueled in part by the recent leak of a collector’s figurine featuring the game’s protagonist. Instead of clarifying the situation directly, the French publisher chose to respond on social media.
A Nod to, and Response, to the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake Leaks
At this stage, very little concrete information is available about the Black Flag remake. A previous leak from the PEGI website suggested that the project’s official title could be Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced. An even more curious incident dates back to last summer, when figurine manufacturer PureArts appeared to reference a new Edward Kenway figure during a live broadcast, seemingly unaware that the game had yet to be officially announced. More recently, images of another Edward Kenway figurine surfaced online after being listed for sale on Vinted, quickly reigniting speculation.
Faced with a growing wave of rumors, Ubisoft responded in a characteristically tongue-in-cheek fashion. As images of the leaked figurine circulated across social media, the official Assassin’s Creed account on X replied with an iconic screenshot from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, featuring CJ’s now-famous line: “Oh shit, here we go again!”
Beyond the figurine leak, additional rumors had suggested that Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced was nearing release. Those claims now appear to have been overly optimistic, as the project is reportedly facing delays linked to Ubisoft’s ongoing internal restructuring. For now, fans will have to settle for a meme-driven acknowledgment and hope that a more concrete announcement arrives sooner rather than later.
