The next major milestone for Xbox fans is just around the corner. Microsoft’s traditional January showcase will take place on January 22, closing out the day. The event will offer a closer look at several upcoming first-party projects, including the next Fable, a title fans have been waiting 16 years to see return. While a number of images have already leaked, they only serve to heighten anticipation.
Fable Will Take You on a Journey, as These Images Show
With just two days to go before the Xbox conference that will kick off 2026, Fable is already making headlines. Playground Games’ upcoming reboot, expected later this year, has surfaced through a series of newly revealed concept artworks. These visuals give fans plenty of material to speculate about the regions that will be explored in this new adventure.
Several pieces of concept art place the heroine in a similar setting: seen from behind, gazing out over vast landscapes. Each illustration conveys a distinct atmosphere, offering a glimpse of the rich and lively natural environments featured in this reboot. One detail, however, stands out in particular: a distant city rising toward the sky. Some fans believe it could be Bloodstone, the iconic port city from Fable 2.

Other artworks appear to support that theory, presenting a closer look at Bloodstone itself. The port city, expected to return in Fable, seems to be nestled between valleys, with its surroundings playing a major role in its overall identity. One illustration even suggests that players may be able to explore the city’s fortifications.
Taking a more pastoral turn, Fable will also lead players through the village of Hamlet. While enchanting at first glance, the concept art hints at a darker fate for the settlement. It appears the village may be shown in multiple states over the course of the story; one illustration suggests a catastrophic event that leaves the buildings in ruins.
Finally, the artwork doesn’t shy away from action. One piece shows the heroine exploring what appears to be an abandoned structure, at least abandoned by humans. As she ventures deeper, she comes face to face with a werewolf. More specifically, this creature is likely a balverine, an iconic enemy that first appeared in the original Fable back in 2004. A familiar foe, then, for longtime fans preparing to return to Albion.
