Assassin’s Creed Hexe: We Finally Have Official, Positive News About the Darkest Game Yet

Assassin’s Creed Shadows was undoubtedly one of the biggest releases of 2025. Despite being surrounded by controversy that threatened to destabilize its launch, the game ultimately enjoyed significant commercial and critical success. With Shadows now firmly established, attention has naturally shifted toward the next major entry in the franchise: Assassin’s Creed Hexe. According to current rumors, AC Hexe is expected to release in 2027, following the conclusion of Shadows’ post-launch support, which is set to continue throughout 2026. While the project remains largely shrouded in mystery, new information has recently surfaced, and it paints a very promising picture for the future of the series.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe in Good Hands ?

For now, little is officially known about ACHexe, still referred to by its codename, but several consistent reports suggest it will be the darkest installment the franchise has ever seen. The game is rumored to take place during a historical period steeped in superstition, fear, and witchcraft, a setting that would mark a significant tonal shift from previous entries. Unlike the vast open-world experiences fans have grown accustomed to, Assassin’s Creed Hexe is also expected to feature a more contained and focused structure.

This design choice could prove beneficial, allowing Ubisoft to deliver a tighter narrative, stronger pacing, and a more impactful overall experience. Atmosphere and immersion are said to be central pillars of the game’s identity, and recent discoveries suggest that Hexe may be well equipped to fulfill those ambitions. According to his LinkedIn profile, Assassin’s Creed Hexe is being directed by Benoît Richter, a name that should inspire confidence among players. Richter is a seasoned industry veteran best known for directing Batman Arkham Origins, a prequel praised for its strong storytelling, mature themes, and dark atmosphere.

His experience aligns particularly well with the tone AC Hexe appears to be aiming for. Beyond Arkham Origins, Richter has worked on several notable projects, including the experimental psychological thriller Transference, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Rainbow Six Vegas, a highly regarded tactical shooter from the late 2000s. With such a diverse and accomplished background, Assassin’s Creed Hexe appears to be in capable hands.

This reassurance comes at an important time for Ubisoft, which has faced years of financial and internal challenges. As the company moves toward major structural changes, most notably its partial merger with Tencent and the creation of a new division focused on flagship franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Hexe could play a crucial role in defining the series’ future.
