Will Hogwarts Legacy 2 Change the Magic? Fans Divided Over Multiplayer

What exactly is Avalanche working on? That’s the big question everyone has been asking for months. After the massive success of Hogwarts Legacy, which has sold over 40 million copies, it’s no surprise that the studio has confirmed they’re working on a sequel, though details remain scarce. All we know is that Avalanche has been posting more job openings, which has sparked curiosity about the nature of the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy 2.

Job Listings Raising Questions About Hogwarts Legacy 2

Over the past year, Avalanche has posted several job listings that provide clues about what the Hogwarts Legacy team may be working on. Surprisingly, some of these listings suggest that the game could focus on multiplayer elements, with terms like ‘game service,’ ‘PvP,’ and ‘online multiplayer RPG’ being mentioned, which has raised concerns about the direction of Hogwarts Legacy 2. These ideas were also highlighted in a recent job listing from the studio. Currently, Avalanche is looking for a senior software engineer to join a “new online multiplayer RPG.”

The job listing notes that the engineer will collaborate closely with the project’s engineering, art, and design teams to help develop and implement the backend infrastructure for the online multiplayer features. This implies that the game may place a significant emphasis on online gameplay. That said, it’s worth mentioning that the job posting doesn’t specifically reference Hogwarts Legacy 2 or anything related to the Harry Potter universe.

A clearly busy studio

This could indicate that Avalanche is working on multiple projects, and this particular role might be for something unrelated to the Hogwarts Legacy sequel. Additionally, the studio is also recruiting for a “high-quality single-player action-adventure RPG” set in the wizarding world, which could very well be the sequel to Hogwarts Legacy.

We’ll have to wait and see how things unfold. In the meantime, Harry Potter fans would likely be thrilled by the possibility of an online adventure with friends, especially if Avalanche handles it well. While Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions didn’t meet Warner Bros.’ expectations, one thing is clear: fans of Hogwarts Legacy would likely welcome the inclusion of Quidditch in the next game.
