Occasionally, PS Plus steps outside its usual rhythm, surprising us with unexpected announcements that disrupt the standard monthly lineup. This is exactly what’s happening in December 2025. PS Plus Extra and Premium members can already dive into two exciting games ahead of the official monthly reveal. On the docket: a timeless masterpiece revamped for next-gen consoles, and a much-anticipated psychedelic indie gem. Here’s a look at the first two games available on PS Plus Extra this December.

Red Dead Redemption Available with PS Plus Extra in December 2025

Let’s start with the game that was announced a few weeks ago. As rumors swirled about a next-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar did what it does best: kept everyone on their toes. Out of nowhere, new versions of Red Dead Redemption for Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PS5 were unveiled. These updates bring not only sharper resolution but also smoother performance, fully harnessing the power of next-gen hardware. The native PS5 version is now the definitive way to (re)experience this Rockstar masterpiece. PS Plus Extra members can jump in right away, as the PS5 version has already been available in the catalog since last week.

For those who need a reminder, Red Dead Redemption has long been hailed as one of the greatest video games of all time, thanks to its richly detailed twilight Western setting, meticulous craftsmanship, and the heart-wrenching story of John Marston. Rockstar’s open world is immersive and alive, often considered one of the most unforgettable interactive narratives of its generation. A true classic, now even more breathtaking on PS5, and available to rediscover through PS Plus Extra.

Skate Story: A New Indie Gem?

Available starting December 8, 2025, at 9:00 AM, Skate Story will be added to the PS Plus Extra catalog on its release day. Published by Devolver Digital and developed by Sam Eng, this unique indie title places players in the role of a demon made of glass and pain, skating through the nine circles of Hell on a magical skateboard.

In a surreal world filled with strange creatures and giant heads philosophizing about the meaning of life, players must perform tricks and solve puzzles to progress in this bizarre yet captivating quest. First reviews should be coming in shortly after this article, but many indie game fans already have high expectations for Skate Story. PS Plus Extra members won’t have to wait to see for themselves.

  1. Playstation can do better then this. I feel like they are being cheap. Thry are loosing premium members due to the companies decisions in games. Thry have been so so poor lately. It is honestly pathetic.
