As development on The Witcher 4 progresses, CD Projekt RED is expanding its teams to help shape the first installment of a new trilogy focused on Ciri. According to the studio’s latest financial report, nearly 450 people are now working on this new open-world RPG set in Andrzej Sapkowski’s universe. Recently, it was revealed that a Baldur’s Gate 3 veteran is among the newest additions to the team.

After hiring a game designer from Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 to oversee gameplay design for The Witcher 4, CD Projekt RED has now brought in a major talent from another renowned RPG. This new recruit, who previously worked on Baldur’s Gate 3, the undisputed GOTY 2023, will be a key player in the game’s development. Felix Pedulla, a former senior cinematic artist at Larian Studios, announced on LinkedIn that he is joining CD Projekt RED as a senior cinematic designer for The Witcher 4.
“As one adventure ends, another begins! I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that I’m joining the legendary team at CD Projekt Red as a Senior Cinematic Designer! The opportunity to contribute to one of the most ambitious studios in the industry is a dream come true. Time to trade in my Baldur’s Gate dice for some Polish steel and get to work crafting some epic cutscenes.“, Pedulla wrote.

While the team working on The Witcher 4 has grown to an impressive 450 people, unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a few more years to see the game in action. The title isn’t expected to launch until 2027 at the earliest. However, CD Projekt RED has plans to release The Witcher 5 and The Witcher 6 within six years of the fourth game’s debut. Only time will tell if the studio can meet those ambitious goals.
Given Felix Pedulla’s significant contributions to the cinematics in Baldur’s Gate 3, which helped elevate the game to one of the best CRPGs of all time, his addition to the Witcher 4 team should be a thrilling prospect for fans of both series.
