Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake: New Leak Drops Release Date Details

It’s arguably one of the worst-kept secrets in the gaming industry. While the French publisher undergoes a major internal restructure in preparation for its partnership with Tencent, it has ambitious plans for the future of its flagship franchise. According to the latest reports, no fewer than ten games are currently in development. Among them are Assassin’s Creed Jade, a mobile game set in China that has seemingly disappeared from the spotlight, and the highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed Hexe, the next major entry that will immerse players in the witch hunts of the 16th century, offering a radically different experience. That much has been officially confirmed.

In parallel, Ubisoft is reportedly planning to revive three of its older Assassin’s Creed titles, including the hugely popular Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. Multiple reliable sources have confirmed the existence of this remake, and Ubisoft has already hinted at it, stating its intention to release several remakes in the near future. The wait for an official announcement and, more importantly, the release may not be as long as expected.

When is the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake set to be released?

One of the most popular games in the Assassin’s Creed franchise may soon return in a new form. Rumors surrounding the Black Flag remake continue to grow. Kotaku has already sounded the alarm, and well-connected Ubisoft insider Tom Henderson has shared several key details. In particular, he revealed that the release of the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake has been delayed, pushing it beyond the original internal launch window. In an alternate reality, we would have been diving back into the Caribbean before the end of the year. However, it seems Ubisoft is choosing to take more time with the project, although the wait shouldn’t be too long. In its latest financial report, the publisher confirmed that one of its unannounced games will be released before mid-2026.

While the release window remains relatively broad, Insider Gaming has already narrowed it down. According to Henderson’s sources, the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake is expected to launch before 31 March 2026, with a more specific target window in the week of 23 March 2026. In other words, an announcement at the Game Awards 2025 now seems more likely than ever. As a reminder, it’s said that this remake will not be limited to a simple graphical update. It will also introduce new accessibility features, including volume controls for different in-game elements, options for stereo and surround sound, mouse support, and adjustable difficulty settings. Furthermore, the creators of Skull & Bones are reportedly contributing their expertise in naval combat to enhance the gameplay experience. However, all of this information should be taken with caution until it is officially confirmed.
