Will Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 Mark the End of Insomniac’s Universe? Marvel Responds

Marvel’s gaming universe continues to expand, and it seems that Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 will not mark the end of the famous heroe’s adventures in a video game format. If nothing has been officially confirmed yet, a recent statement from Marvel Games’ general director, Haluk Mentes, leaves little doubt that their collaboration with Insomniac Games is here to stay.

A collaboration that will go beyond Marvel’s Spider-Man

For several years, Insomniac Games has established itself as a key partner for Marvel. After Marvel’s Spider Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, as well as the Miles Morales spin-off, the studio is now working on Marvel’s Wolverine, slated for release in 2026. Haluk Mentes even stated in an interview with GameInformer that the two teams intend to “continue collaborating for many years to come“. A statement that speaks volumes. While Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 is indeed in development, it seems that this will only mark a new chapter in an already well-established creative relationship, and not the end of the saga.

It is therefore incorrect to view Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 as the mere conclusion of a trilogy. All signs point to the universe built by Insomniac continuing to evolve. The studio has repeatedly proven its talent for telling significant and interconnected stories, all the while exploring new heroes of the Marvel universe. This approach suggests that we have not yet seen the end of Peter Parker and Miles Morales. Marvel Games appears eager to build a comprehensive ecosystem of interconnected games, similar to the MCU in theaters. And Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 might be the turning point of it all, connecting the dots between past and future video game adventures.

A universe in full swing

Haluk Mentes insists on the studio’s philosophy: allowing developers to express their vision while staying true to Marvel’s spirit. In this regard, Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 appears to be the natural extension of a broader ambition. Each game is no longer conceived as a mere adaptation, but as a part of a coherent whole, shaped by different teams sharing the same passion

Nothing today indicates whether Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 will definitively mark the end of this endeavor. Quite the contrary, in fact, as the mutual trust between Marvel and Insomniac suggests that many other Spidey-related projects may follow. Whether these take the form of spin-offs, direct sequels, or even crossovers with other heroes, the sky is the limit.
